25th Anniversary Gathering
The Clayoquot Biosphere Trust and ?a?uuk?i?at? (Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations) invite you to a regional gathering in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere. This free public event will include a community meal, presentations, educational booths, and fun activities for all ages. ABOUT THE EVENT This gathering will welcome attendees from across the region, including residents, visitors, and organizations. The event will honour Indigenous knowledge and leadership, highlight 25 years of collaborative conservation and sustainable development, and bring communities together to reflect on the future of the Biosphere Region. Central to the gathering will be cultural sharing through storytelling, food, art, dance, and other activities. As a UNESCO-recognized site, we are working to advance biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, reconciliation, and climate action. These values unite Nations, communities, organizations, businesses and individuals and help us move toward shared goals and a future we can all be proud of. The Biosphere designation uplifts and aligns everyone’s efforts, recognizing that when Indigenous rights and title are upheld, communities and ecosystems thrive. As we celebrate this 25-year milestone, we want to honour the frontline advocacy that made this possible and continues to guide the path forward. All communities, residents, and visitors are invited to mark this moment and move forward in a positive direction for the future of the region. We will recognize and celebrate our movement towards these goals and envision how we can continue to work together for the health and abundance of all.
