About Us

Coastal Shred Academy is a local, community rooted surf school in Tofino offering safe, fun, and progression focused surf lessons at Cox Bay and Chesterman Beach. Our certified local instructors teach with clear, positive guidance and a deep understanding of these dynamic beaches, helping students feel confident, supported, and excited in the water. All gear is included so guests can arrive ready to surf and focus on the experience.

Coastal Shred Academy grew out of youth surf and skate programs delivered in partnership with Wickaninnish Community School and the District of Tofino. Through these programs, we help local kids build confidence, ocean awareness, and a strong connection to movement, nature, and community. That same supportive, educational approach carries through to every surf lesson we offer.

Perfect for beginners, families, couples, and first time surfers, our lessons go beyond simply standing up. We focus on ocean awareness, timing, positioning, and fundamentals so guests leave with a deeper understanding of surfing and the confidence to keep progressing. Led by passionate locals, Coastal Shred Academy offers an authentic, welcoming way to experience surfing in Tofino.
