DESCRIPTION:Shifting Frameworks is a workshop created for workplaces that establishes a foundation for learning how to support queer staff and clientele\n\n \nCoastal Queers invites you to attend Shifting Frameworks: An intro to Queer Competency Training for Workplaces.\n\nWhat is it?\n\nShifting Frameworks is a workshop created for Tofino & Ucluelet workplaces that establishes a foundation for learning about how to incorporate best practices to support queer staff and clientele. The need for workplace queer competency training has been expressed by a variety of businesses and organizations since the inception of Coastal Queers. We know that our community is made up of people who have a sincere desire to support the queer community\, and we are excited to offer some tools and ideas that can help inform this support!\n\nWho is it for?\n\nShifting Frameworks is aimed at local businesses and organizations. As there are a limited number of spots available\, we ask that no more than 2 people per organization attend\; we suggest that owners/management staff attend from businesses\, and board/staff attend from non-profits. If there is interest in having more of your staff be trained after the workshop\, please contact Coastal Queers.\n\nPrior to the workshop\, there will be an hour and a half of independent learning required\; we ask that if you plan to attend the in person component\, that you also commit to completing the pre-work. This will ensure that everyone is familiar with some of the foundational knowledge\, language\, definitions\, and concepts we will be discussing while in person.
