2018 Chamber/Tourism Tofino Membership Renewal letter

Dear Members,
On behalf of the staff and board of directors of the Tofino-Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, we thank-you for being part of Chamber and Tourism Tofino network this year, and we hope it’s been a good one for you and your business.
There are three areas where the board focused its efforts this year as part of our strategic plan:
- Lobbying: living affordability in Tofino (housing and childcare focus), affordable and staff housing, regulation of short-term rentals both locally and provincially, and other local efforts such as the expansion of the Multi-Use Path to meet up with the Pacific Rim National Park’s Traverse Trail.
- Membership Engagement: thanks to all those members who attended our regular Chamber events this year, including Mayor’s Breakfasts, Member Lunches, our AGM, Business Excellence Awards, and more.
- Organizational Development: following our administrative split from Tourism Tofino in 2016, the Chamber is focused on how to evolve the organization and better serve our members. The board is currently doing policy work that will govern the organization moving forward.
The Chamber is focused on targeting services to small accommodations in 2017, as well as highlighting our Try Local Tofino/Made in Tofino program, and continuously improving the Tofino Ambassador Program.
Did you know?
Even if you’re not able to attend events or make use of the many benefits we offer directly, your business still profits from being part of the Chamber network. Research shows that people are more likely to frequent a business that’s part of a Chamber of Commerce (this study is available on our website), and we receive countless referral requests through our office and Tourism Tofino (we only refer members). Your membership also allows us to continue our lobbying efforts – both to District of Tofino council and to other levels of government on small business related issues.
As always, we welcome your input on the board’s lobbying efforts or any of the Chamber’s initiatives.
